The two producers pulling the strings behind the Mettle Music crew are Nic Conef and Mark Wadsworth. Based within the fertile musical melting pot of Manchester, where their evocative sound has evolved consistently and confidently into maturity since their first release as part of the Mettle Music Collective back in June 1999.

Heralding from very different musical backgrounds, Nic and Mark have managed to create a harmonious working environment, not to mention harmonious music, by utilising the talents of their extended family of talented musicians & guest vocalists (who's credits include; Jersey St, Malena, Nightmares on Wax, Jimpster, Rae & Christian) whilst educating each other in their fields of musical expertise. Nic (the DJ) wasted no time in exposing Mark (the muso) to some of the producers who were most inspirational to him; Salt City Orchestra, Attaboy, Ashley Beadle, Faze Action, Idjut Boys and Swag. While Mark who claims "The Jones Girls have a lot to answer for!" introduced Nic to the joys of Weather Report, Miles Davis & Herbie Hancock, Studio One Recordings and Airto Moreira.

Moving significantly forward from their solid debut "Honeycomb Lounge" on the renowned deep house label Toko, the 2nd album "Moodswings" further enhances their al ready solid reputation.

The album combines tracks of both funk-fuelled, jazzy, percussive grooves with more sublime laid back productions integrating their musical interests into a sublime whole. Highlights include the deep, electro tinged vibes of Bette r Days (featuring flavour of the month UK songstress Sandi Thom), the evocatively sublime 'Capture' featuring singer/songwriter Virginia Barrett, the cool latin vibes of 'El Mar' featuring Spanish vocalist Susana Montro (aka Malena)or you can hit the floo r as the full live band takes to the stage with the irresistible grooves of the samba inspired Latin Horns.
